Yep, I heard a new line in the health care debate today while out at the Obama care rally that passed through Denver today at North High School.
It’s little wonder we’ve lost touch with the Constitutionality of taking property and liberty away from citizens using the force of government to subsidize other individuals.
Representative Ed Perlmutter (D – CO District 7) actually had the gall to stand on stage at pro-Obama care and public option rally and make the charge that our current health care system is unconstitutional. Huh? That perked up my ears, did I hear him say what I thought I heard?
He continued on, asking the audience, with their ocean of pre-printed Health Care Now signs, if they’d heard of the 14th Amendment. Hmmm, I wasn’t sure where he was going with this but surely he wasn’t going to go THERE.
Yep, according to Ed Perlmutter, the 14th Amendment gives equal protection and people denied care and coverage don’t have equal access to health care so the existing system must be unconstitutional. I’m not sure if he was also going to expand that to include housing, food, and clothing. On that note, this guy down the street got a bigger loan for a BMW so I should also get one since the Constitution guarantees equal protection.
The 14th Amendment and Equal Protection
OK, here’s some text from Section 1 of the 14th Amendment:
“…No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.” [emphasis mine]Did you get that? Yes, the Constitution specifically refers to equal protection of law not to goods and services on the market. Seriously, a congressman in the United States House of Representatives made the public charge that our health care system violates the 14 Amendment.
Why Is Ed Perlmutter Misleading You?
He’s not a dummy, Perlmutter was a director of the law firm of Berenbaum Weinshienk before being elected to office and was also on the Board of Governors of the Colorado Bar Association. He’s purposefully engaged in intellectual dishonesty to rile up a bunch of unknowledgeable plunderers to make them not only not question the Constitutionality of what they’re advocating, but making them feel legally justified.

Please, citizens of Colorado Congressional District 7, you’ve now seen the true colors of Ed Perlmutter and how he’s fine lying to you (no, this can’t be an innocent mishap). Make sure to teach him a lesson about the Constitution and don’t let him continue serving you and carrying out his oath to “protect and defend the Constitution” for which he has no regard.

He’s got to go along with many others in upcoming elections. Too bad Tennessee politicians are not up for re-election any time soon. I’m ready to vote them out now.

I just heard about this site today. I am starting to help Brian Campbell overcome the fund raising disadvantage he has. But, the more we see Ed vote, the more I hear him speak the more I believe that ED MUST GO.

That is what makes the Healt Care unconsitutional because it is a service and not law so you basically answered your own question and twisted the consitution to your will.
The law is any case that is civil and/or criminal where somebody is the defeandent and the other is the prosecuter.etc
This time of recession is the worst time ever to even think/ consider passing big expensive laws like this.
This law is free for you as you don’t have to pay insurance but not free to taxpayers and the goverment who are Trillions in debt. $$$$$$
Trillions are money not even imaginable and the banks refuse to loan the Goverment any more money because they can’t pay off what they owe unless each of us pays 1,000s for every day of our lives.
Now let me know when you come up with that kind of money and I’ll gladly pay my share of the 1,000s required to get our country out of debt as a good samarition.

You are twisting your own words right now to make/help ‘inferior’ people rise to power they don’t deserve.
I hope you not only enjoy another broken goverment system but you enjoy insanly long waits MUCH longer then your family doctor as the Goverment will also pass laws to ban family doctors as a side-effect as they will be *threat* to safety.
Remember all laws have side-effects that makes one thing/law lead to another and another like a stone thrown into a lake causing ripples.
This health care law is that stone/rock being thrown.

It’s a good thing I don’t need the doctor that much.
It’s happen in history and as they say tends to repeat/reocuur itself.
Most of these laws recently pass are more high tech versions of the laws passed before we broke away from England when England refused to recognize us and instead bullied us anytime we tried to say/stand up for anything.

Every human being has the right, given by the CREATOR,not by government, to live as they see fit. LIVE. TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES.
We are not cars and our bodies and how we choose to care for them, are private decisions.
If a CENTRAL FEDERAL GOVERNMENT decides that YOU must buy an insurance product, and that you will then receive care for y our body according to it’s precepts, this is not only a violation of the Constitution, it is a violation of our very identity as humans.
Naturally we all want reform and it should not cost as much to get good medical care.
There are solutions to this problem that do not include MANDATING compulsory purchase of this personal product, and which do not involve the Internal Revenue Service, and which do not involve a Comittee on Cost deciding who/at what age/ treatments are appropriate.
These things are personal issues. We are on our way to a dangerous Brave New World with this government takeover of our activities re;Health Care.
What is needed is artistic and sensible reform: this bill on the other hand, is gross and harmful . I have read large portions of it….
Social Security, etc. is already in place.How exactly does that make THIS huge new plan excusable ? What a useless argument….if anything, SS is broke, that should ring alarm bells in living brains….
The Constitution does not give the Federal Government the right to tax for NON PURCHASE of a product.
You are going to see a firestorm of resistance because of valid reasons, not because of the stupid talking points like “Republicans are obstructionists” “fat cats” etc.
Wake up and start examining the details of what is going on in America. You will not like it. We need a populist/conservative government that will spend wisely, and little, and allow us/help us to solve our own problems.
